“Conciliation is the key to survival. Peace is the goal.” - Haida Gwaii, Traditional Circle of Elders
When we make decisions or experience conflict we need to look at the greater whole. The end result we want to accomplish is peace of mind. If we keep this goal in mind, we will, overall, live a happy and fulfilling life. Everything in the world is constantly changing so we should not resist this change. A good question to ask ourselves is, “would I rather be right or happy?” If we would rather be happy, then it is easier to let the little things go. If we would rather be right, we tend to look for the WIN/LOSE.
…in my life i don’t feel that anything is 100% WIN or 100% LOSE. sometimes i struggle with something for weeks, or i’m set back daily in the list of things i want to achieve. if i looked at this as losing, can you imagine how unhappy i would be? my father tells me all the time, “sweetheart, if you finish everything today, what will there be to do tomorrow?” and i, of course, have an infinite list so there will always be something tomorrow. what The Universe tells me when it hasn’t gotten my daily routine memo and changes the course of my day is, slow down. you’re moving too fast to enjoy your life today. you cannot plan your life to the minute, and even when you do - things change. embrace the change because it’s either going to bring you something better than what you’d already planned for yourself, or it’s going to teach you a lesson. when i can no longer learn a new lesson, i’ve gotten too old to really live. i hope i never stop learning, whether through “success” or “failure” - it’s all a “win” to me.
